Spielberg's Lincoln cast fills out with some huge names!

I've been keeping a close eye on the developments of Steven Spielberg's Lincoln.  Whether is was the announcement of Daniel Day Lewis as the titular role, bringing Tony Kushner on to write the screenplay or casting Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln I don't feel like a beat has been missed yet.  Now comes news today of some additional amazing talent that will be joining the cast.

Tommy Lee-Jones will play the part of Thaddeus Stevens a Republican Congressman from Pennsylvania and important ally to Lincoln in writing and passing the legislation that would abolish slavery and fund The Civil War.  Joseph Gordan-Levitt has been cast as Robert Todd Lincoln, Abraham Lincoln's eldest son and only one whom lived past his teenage years.

Additional names in negotiations to join the cast are Hal Holbrook, James Spader, John Hawkes, Tim Blake Nelson, Bruce McGill and Joseph Cross.  It can be assumed that since the movie will be based on Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin, the majority of these men will be playing members of Abraham Lincoln's cabinet.  Regardless of which actor plays which character, by my count today adds three Oscar nominees to the two already cast.  Like I said I have yet to do anything but get more excited with each passing announcement about this film.

Let me know what you guys think in the comments below!
