Late last night Peter Jackson debuted his first video diary for the making of The Hobbit. It's over 10 minutes long and there are a couple of neat tidbits like seeing the dwarves and Gandalf all settled at Bilbo's table for "An Unexpected Party" (sans makeup) and a blessing of the soundstage. The biggest takeaway for me though is just a bit of deja-vu and the realisation that yes, this really is happening again, we will finally have a movie adaptation of The Hobbit. I may have reservations about these films and I still have countless issues with Jackson's Lord of the Rings films, but today isn't the day to dwell on the negative. Today is a day to be happy that somewhere on this planet right now Bag End exists. How can that not make you smile?
